“Hello - it’s been some time since I’ve been here at Madison Square Garden,” he humbly admitted in the middle of the show. Though Usher Raymond IV wasn’t properly “experienced” in the arena, the singer did thank his fans for gathering to watch him in his element. And toward the end of the show, Usher brought out his now-signature Davy Crockett-like hat and had the audience loudly sing his set’s remaining numbers with the nine-person band. See more Usher Takes Madison Square Garden for The UR ExperienceĮven more so, his notable tracks were often shortened to hit the next memorable chart-topper at one point, “Confessions Part II” was interrupted for a short chat with the DJ, who then spun snippets of Usher’s hottest collaborations while the singer simply stood on the booth and sang along every now and then. Did he really need the randomly activated risers, the 90-second drum solo or the distracting generic graphics of fish and Chinese dragons? A little smoke and fire is fine when watching the song-and-dance man - and even the interlude of asking five female attendees to show the best moves on “Bad Girl” was at least humorous in turning the “sing to someone onstage” trope on its head - but it’s odd that the beloved coach of The Voice, on which he authentically encourages insecure contestants to proudly tout their individual strengths, would bring attention to anything but, when it comes to his own retrospective. Usher also shined vocally when he took the time to do so: bouncing his gold mic stand during “Caught Up,” hitting the top of his range on “Climax,” adding extra runs to “U Remind Me,” impressively closing “Burn” a cappella, and returning with an encore of a full-out “Without You,” which he dedicated to God. But outside of an eight-measure solo dance moment during “OMG” (which was censored, along with his other songs, a welcome contrast to August’s countless F-bombs), audiences sparsely saw the expert spotlighting his uncanny knack for choreography, as he too often leaned on sporadic movements that must now be second nature to him. His routines were sharp, effortless and even playful at times, and he didn’t need to rely on constant gyrating to entertain (he only showed his abs once, nearly an hour into the show). From 1997’s “My Way” to 2014’s “She Came to Give It to You,” his archive was beefed up with brass, bass and dance breaks - the latter being a big part of why the arena was packed to capacity for Usher alone. Read more Usher on How He Gets Tough With Justin Bieber and Why He’s Not Ready for a New AlbumĪfter sets from opening acts DJ Cassidy and August Alsina, the always cool and casual R&B man first triggered fireworks after gliding through smoke in a studded leather jacket and a pair of red sneakers (and later gray glitter, and then gold). Usher's Las Vegas Residency Hosts Zendaya, Tom Holland and 'Transformers' Stars But if the 36-year-old is hoping to move forward by thoroughly looking back, it might be a lost cause, because the tour doesn’t adequately honor the performer’s pop culture contributions and, therefore, his still-untouched potential. He’s said he “just ain’t ready” and wants more time to tinker with new material, and is stage-jumping in the meantime with the 90-minute arena spectacle that celebrates his 20-year career. It’s an adage he included in the liner notes of 2012’s Looking 4 Myself and remains appropriate, as the seasoned singer-dancer recently decided to delay the release of his eighth album indefinitely, after two under-performers. “Sometimes you gotta go through something to get to something,” whispered Usher to the sold-out Madison Square Garden audience at Friday night’s The UR Experience.

I hope this post was helpful to you if you are considering teaching sight words during your guided reading groups, or if you just want to update your routine! If you have any questions, let me know down below! On day 2 of my guided reading lesson, we work on our target sight word through guided writing! To see how I do that, click here: Teaching Guided Writing in Kindergarten This is key in building connections in the brain! By switching words in between, it requires students to pull the target word from their memory rather than write it by rote. Last, I have them write the target sight word again. Then, I have them write a sight word I know they already have mastery of and won’t have to think too hard about. Once we have all built the word, we push up one letter at a time as we say each letter, and then we read the word together. Then, I give students magnetic letters and have them build the word. Practicing Sight Words During Guided Reading I write that letter in the word and we read the word together. I turn it around and have a student quickly identify what is missing. Then, I turn the board around and I erase 1-2 letters. This helps with visual memory of the letter order. I have students watch as I slowly reveal one letter at a time. This can be used as a stand alone or support lesson. Use this fun lesson plan to practice identifying common sight words and rhyming words with your els. I start by introducing the word, show it on a whiteboard, and then cover it up with a piece of paper. Entire Library lesson-plan Kindergarten Reading & Writing Sight Words. That helps them build a connection to the word.Īfter students read the text and we discuss it, we work with our target sight word. If it is a new word for my students, I will do a quick mini-lesson on it before we read the book, but usually this is a word we’ve been introduced to whole group before.īefore reading, I have students find the target sight word and frame it with their fingers. Each child will learn at their own pace and establishing a solid foundation in sight words will set them up for success as they progress in learning to read.I start by choosing a text that uses the target word often. The Dolch word list does, however, include 220 words, sometimes known as high frequency words sight words, that are broken up into five different lists:Įach Dolch sight word list corresponds to a particular grade level, but by no means should a child be rushed through the lists to make sure they match up. In my opinion, the Fry words are much more comprehensive as they cover a larger number of high-frequency words and common words and they are more up-to-date than the Dolch sight words. The Fry lists are also fairly common and my own personal preference when it comes to teaching sight words. Teaching sight words like those in the Dolch word lists ensures that your students will not only read more fluently but that they’ll retain and comprehend more of what they read as well.ĭolch words are basic sight words typically the ones that most people know of, although there are other lists out there. Well, if a student has to stop reading every time they come across the words it or is because they need to sound them out, their fluency and comprehension would suffer greatly. On the path of learning to read, words like these act like big stop signs since they can’t be decoded, meaning kids can’t sound them out. They’ll learn the letters of the alphabet and the sounds that those letters make and as they progress, they’ll learn to sound out vowel teams and consonant blends.īut, what happens when they come across a word that doesn’t follow the typical phonetic rules like the, was, or of? When we’re teaching students to read, we’re working on a number of different concepts that will help them sound out the words that are in front of them. Before we get to the lists themselves, it may help to understand why sight words are so important. Visiongain’s 366-page report provides 131 tables and 182 charts/graphs. Regulatory authorities adapted their processes to accommodate pandemic-related constraints, which sometimes led to delays in obtaining necessary permits and licenses for decommissioning activities. Companies faced challenges in sourcing and transporting necessary resources. Travel restrictions and border closures affected the supply chain for critical equipment and materials needed for decommissioning projects. Virtual inspections, online meetings, and digital documentation became essential tools in managing decommissioning projects amidst the restrictions. The pandemic accelerated the adoption of digital technologies and remote working solutions. As renewable energy sources gained prominence, the focus on nuclear power and its decommissioning may have shifted in certain regions. Some governments and energy companies re-evaluated their energy priorities during the pandemic. Strict health and safety measures were implemented to protect workers from COVID-19, leading to adjustments in project timelines and operational procedures. The pandemic prompted a reassessment of safety protocols and working practices at nuclear sites. This resulted in potential budget cuts for decommissioning projects, postponing or scaling down some initiatives. The economic downturn caused by the pandemic led to financial constraints for both governments and private companies. Limited access to sites and disruptions in the supply chain slowed down the progress of decommissioning activities. Many decommissioning projects experienced delays as a result of travel restrictions, lockdown measures, and workforce shortages. The COVID-19 pandemic has had significant implications on the nuclear reactor decommissioning market. How has COVID-19 had a significant negative impact on the Nuclear Reactor Decommissioning Market? Decommissioning frees up resources and infrastructure for the development of renewable energy projects, helping nations meet their carbon reduction targets and environmental commitments. The decommissioning market responds by offering innovative solutions that optimize the use of funds while prioritizing safety and compliance.Įnergy Transition Spurs Nuclear Decommissioning OpportunitiesĪs countries shift toward cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, the decommissioning of nuclear reactors plays a crucial role in facilitating this energy transition. Effective project management, risk assessment, and cost estimation are essential to ensure the efficient allocation of resources. The cost of operating aging reactors and the potential financial burdens of decommissioning have prompted stakeholders to develop economically viable decommissioning strategies. The global nuclear reactor decommissioning market was valued at US$77.1 billion in 2022 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 2.5% during the forecast period 2023-2033.Įconomics Drive Rationalized Decommissioning Strategies Visiongain has published a new report entitled Nuclear Reactor Decommissioning Market Report 2023-2033 : Forecasts by Reactor Size (Large Reactors, Small Modular Reactors), by Type (Immediate Dismantling, Safe Enclosure, Entombment), by Funding Type (Self-Funded, Government-Funded, External Financing, Other), by Reactor Type (Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR), Boiling Water Reactor (BWR), Gas-Cooled Reactor (GCR), Fast Neutron Reactor (FNR), Other), by Phase (Pre-Decommissioning, Decontamination & Dismantling (D&D), Defueling & Storage, Waste Management, Site Restoration, Other) AND Regional and Leading National Market Analysis PLUS Analysis of Leading Companies AND COVID-19 Impact and Recovery Pattern Analysis. New is the integration with Ergonis’ award-winning PopChar. A nice side-effect of this improvement is that the expansion field is now wider and you have more space to enter your expansions. Here you can find all markers and editing functions in one central place. This offers an elegant way to avoid those conflicts.Ī user interface enhancement is the new “mini menu bar” right above the expansion field. You might wonder why, but that soon becomes clear when you have a lot of snippets that you want to give the same abbreviation – that is a surefire way of introducing shortcut conflicts. This allows you to use them as special trigger characters. You can now use the modifier keys Shift, Control, Option, and Command in abbreviations as if they were real characters. My personal favourite is the new symmetry mode that works with up to 32 “divisions”.īatch processing has been improved, a new assets panel is available for quick drag and drop of commonly used elements, and the layers panel has had a complete overhaul and is more efficient than the previous one.Īffinity Designer got new isometric controls that allow you to work directly on any isometric plane – or fit existing elements to a plane with a single click. The brush engine was rewritten as well and all-new multi-brushes were added. It should also be more effective at reducing noise and hot pixel removal, but I haven’t tested that yet.Īnother new feature is that you now get access to a wider colour space in Affinity Photo (great for HDR). The update also comes with a new demosaicing algorithm that is a bit more accurate in rendering the colours and sharpness of my old camera’s files. On my iMac 5K Retina mid-2017, they load my Sony Alpha 700 images much faster than before. The updates have a lot in common and bring a much improved and certainly faster RAW processing engine.
